medium handcrafted tamarack decoy, made in 2026, sits on a round natural birch wood base and reflects traditional Cree craftsmanship in a refined, sculptural form. Carefully shaped from tightly woven tamarack twigs, each decoy highlights a deep connection to the land and the patience of handwork passed down through generations.

Historically, tamarack decoys were used as functional duck decoys during hunting, valued for their ability to blend seamlessly into northern landscapes. Today, they are appreciated as cultural artworks and decorative pieces—bridging traditional knowledge from Eeyou Istchee with contemporary spaces.

Each piece is handmade and one of a kind, with natural variations that speak to the materials and the maker’s hand.
