This large handcrafted tamarack bird decoy features gracefully folded wings and is made using traditional Cree techniques from tightly woven tamarack twigs. Each piece is a testament to Indigenous craftsmanship and connection to the northern landscape.
Originally used as functional duck decoys by Cree hunters, these natural works of art once floated on lakes and rivers, blending seamlessly with the environment. Today, they stand as decorative cultural pieces, symbolizing heritage, resilience, and the artistry of Eeyou Istchee.
