ABOUT WACHIYA
"Wachiya" means "Hello" in Cree.
We are proud to represent Wachiya, a Cree and Indigenous store specializing in authentic Cree arts and crafts from the James Bay area, also known as Eeyou Istchee. Each item we offer is a unique creation, crafted with care, reflecting the rich cultural heritage, expertise, and traditions of Eeyou artists.
At Wachiya, we source our products directly from Eeyou producers and partner with the Cree Native Arts and Crafts Association to ensure authenticity and a fair return for the talented artisans.
As a social enterprise, our mission extends beyond profit. We are committed to creating positive community impacts by supporting local producers and expanding opportunities for Eeyou artists. Wachiya operates under the Cree Native Arts and Crafts Association, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving, revitalizing, and celebrating Cree culture through the development of a thriving social economy.
We are thrilled to share our culture and craftsmanship with the world.
