PRODUCT DETAILS

This handcrafted tamarack bird features an open-wing standing design, a style that sets it apart from the traditional folded-wing or no-wing variations. Carefully shaped by hand using tightly woven tamarack twigs, this sculpture captures the motion and presence of a bird lifting its wings in a moment of poise.

Mounted on a natural birch-round base, the piece blends movement, balance, and traditional Cree craftsmanship.

Tamarack birds have a long history in Cree and other northern Indigenous cultures. Originally crafted as decoys for hunting, they blended seamlessly into the landscape with their natural materials. Today, they are celebrated as cultural artworks symbolizing connection to land, traditional knowledge, and the artistry of northern craftsmanship.

Every piece is handmade, resulting in slight variations that make each sculpture uniquely one-of-a-kind.

Approximate Dimensions:
Height: 5.5"
Length: 6.5"
Width: 4.5"
Base: 1.75" round birch slice
Sizes may vary slightly due to the handmade nature of each piece.
