This handcrafted tamarack bird is carefully shaped by hand using tightly woven tamarack twigs. Its smooth, curved neck and balanced body create a calm, grounded form that highlights the natural materials and detailed handwork of the piece.

Mounted on a natural birch-round base, it reflects Cree craftsmanship and the long tradition of tamarack bird making.

Tamarack birds have long been made by Cree and other northern Indigenous peoples. Traditionally used as hunting decoys, they were crafted from natural materials to blend into the land. Today, they continue as cultural artworks that reflect connection to the territory, lived knowledge, and the skill of the maker.
