Beaded Moosehide Trifold Wallet by Sheila Matoush

This trifold wallet pairs soft tanned moosehide with fine Delica beadwork, hand-stitched by Cree artist Sheila Matoush of Mistissini. A pair of beaded blue and burgundy flowers, joined by delicate leaf sprays, sits across the moosehide face, with "WACHIYA" spelled out in red and white beadwork along the base, a nod to the store and to the traditional Cree greeting itself.

The wallet is finished in black leather with a fine black beaded edge running the full perimeter, giving it a clean, structured look alongside the softness of the hide. Inside, the trifold opens to reveal two card windows and several card slots, with a zippered compartment along one end for coins or small essentials.

As with all her work, the beading is done entirely by hand, so the floral pattern and beadwork on each piece will vary slightly from the next.
