Detail
This handcrafted tamarack bird decoy is shaped using tightly woven tamarack twigs, reflecting a traditional form used across northern Indigenous communities. The elongated body and natural texture give the piece a strong presence while staying true to its functional origins.
Tamarack decoys have long been made by Cree and other northern Indigenous peoples. Traditionally used for hunting, they were placed on the water where their natural materials allowed them to blend seamlessly into the environment. Today, they continue as cultural artworks that carry forward knowledge, craftsmanship, and connection to the land.
Each piece is handmade, resulting in slight variations that make every sculpture one of a kind.
Sizes may vary slightly due to the handmade nature of each piece.
